I’m London Alexander, and I’m queer af!

Growing up just outside of Los Angeles, I was a lonely queer kid that only began to figure out who I was once I found my first queer group of friends when I was 17. Throughout the years, I learned that, just because a person is queer, it doesn’t mean their friendship is compatible. And that’s okay!

In 2016, I found my tribe — a queer community in Los Angeles that shared similar interests like dive bars, grungy drag shows, punk music, and video games.

The LGBTQ+ community is continuously expanding. There are now many groups that cater to different needs and interests, thus a community exists for everyone! Long gone are the days where we have to force ourselves to be friends with the only other queer person in town.

I take my life experiences and turn them into writing because I grew up getting lost in books, connecting with characters, and seeing the value in learning about other people’s perspectives.

Some of my favorite books include The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Giovanni’s Room, and When We Rise, all of which blend the beauty of real-life experiences into entertaining narratives.

I wrote and published The Downtown Underground, and have also written for Out Front Magazine, Zhive Media, Chicken Soup for the Soul, and have had multiple television comedy scripts optioned.

Storytelling is my passion. Though I love writing, I also enjoy presenting stories through different mediums like film. In 2019, I began my road-tripping journey, Queer Across America, on YouTube. It showcases my travels around the US, Canada, and Mexico, exploring queer communities, highlighting local LGBTQ+ businesses, and conquering my mental health.

My writing style includes plenty of satire, dark humor, and introspection. Look, I don’t take life too seriously, so I take every opportunity I get to laugh at the ridiculousness of it all while also being grateful for my experiences.

Growing up in Los Angeles, I was brainwashed to believe in “the grind,” the idea that pursuing a career has to define every aspect of your life and, if you’re not actively working toward it every second of your day, you’re a failure.

I’ve begun to learn how to have hobbies and interests again outside of my writing career. You can find me at local drag shows, independent pro wrestling events, obscure museums, and being lured into the tattoo shop by the siren sound of the needle gun.
